WHEN DO I MEET WITH MY HONORS ADVISOR?
Honors Students are required to meet with their Honors Advisor at least once each semester while enrolled in the University Honors Program.
- Students will meet with their Honors Advisor in the Bobcat Advising Center.
WHAT TO BRING TO AN APPOINTMENT OR WALK-IN ADVISING
- A laptop (if you have one) - but this is optional.
- You may want to log on to your Connect student portal or MyDegreePath while you meet with your Honors Advisor.
- Your questions and ideas about academic and career goals, majors and minors of interest, course sequencing, intended graduation, fulfilling University Honors Program requirements, etc.
ABOUT APPOINTMENTS
- Appointments are 30 minutes long. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in.
- Appointments must be scheduled online at least 24 hours in advance.
- Use your UC Merced email when you schedule an appointment.
- Appointments fill very quickly due to the volume of students that are served.
- The Honors Advisor appointment calendar is open on a 3-week rolling basis during the academic year.
- If appointments are full, check the calendar every 1-2 days for potential openings.
During an appointment, your Honors Advisor can help you:
- Prepare an academic plan for current or future semesters, including optional summer courses
- Discuss major, minor, and career interests
- Identify academic support resources
- Discuss strategies to complete remaining University Honors Program (UHP) requirements
- Discuss strategies to complete remaining General Education (GE) requirements
- Identify academic or co-curricular opportunities to support your personal, academic, and career goals
- Develop ideas for next semester class registration
- Review questions that you have after you have explored your MyDegreePath audit
ABOUT WALK-IN ADVISING
- Walk-in advising occurs on a drop-in basis and is limited to 10-15 minutes when other students are waiting.
- The Honors Advisor has 90 minutes of walk-in advising daily during the academic year, with longer (extended) walk-in advising at semester start and during registration.
During walk-in advising, your Honors Advisor can help you:
- Answer quick questions (forms, deadlines, adjusting classes in current semester)
- Address challenges that need immediate assistance, such as a family, personal, legal, or medical challenge that impacts your ability to continue in classes
