ECON 001H will cover a range of topics that are essential to understanding economic principles and theories. Through these topics, students will be able to explore and understand different approaches to knowledge in the social sciences. Some examples are:

(1) Completion of Problem Set Assignments: Students will be assigned various readings, and quizzes that will require them to critically analyze and evaluate economic data and information. These assignments will encourage students to develop a deep understanding of the methods used in the social sciences, such as data analysis, statistical techniques, and experimental methods.

(2) Additional Readings: Students taking the honors course will be required to do additional readings outside of what is assigned to the regular ECON 001 course.  These readings will expose students to different approaches to knowledge and provide them with a comprehensive understanding of economics as a social science. For example, students may read articles from different economic perspectives, such as classical, neoclassical, and behavioral economics, and critically evaluate how each approach views and explains economic phenomena.

Honors lecture portion of this course will meet at the same time and place as the regular ECON 001 lecture. Honors students will take an additional discussion section as their enhanced learning activity which will differentiate ECON 001H from ECON 001.
